Caitlin and Andy's wedding at The Park Hotel, Peebles

Caitlin and Andy got married in Peebles, in the Scottish Borders, with a ceremony at St Andrew’s Leckie Parish Church and the rest of the day at The Park Hotel Peebles, a hotel with a garden and a beer garden in the middle of town, right on my Borders doorstep. A bit of Scottish weather, a lot of confetti, a bride on a picnic table for her speech, and some next-level ceilidh dancing thrown in for good measure.
A park run, a dram and getting ready at The Park Hotel
Most wedding mornings start with a quiet breakfast or a chilled-out coffee. Andy and his crew? They kicked things off with a park run at Hay Lodge Park in Peebles. Not your typical wedding morning activity, but honestly, what a way to start the day. They headed back to the Park Hotel to get ready, swap gifts and share a dram before the ceremony.
Meanwhile, Caitlin was in the bridal suite with her family and her maid of honour, who had flown in from Australia. When people travel across the world to be there, it just hits differently.
A ceremony at St Andrew’s Leckie and full confetti chaos
Their ceremony was at St Andrew’s Leckie Parish Church in Peebles, personal and full of the little moments that make a day.
Then came the confetti. And not just a sprinkle. We’re talking full confetti chaos, the kind where you can barely see the couple through it. Exactly how it should be.
A speech from a picnic table and a mini golf showdown
Back at the Park Hotel Peebles, we gathered everyone for a quick group photo before diving into speeches outside. Caitlin, being a bit shorter than Andy, stood up on a picnic table to deliver hers, and she absolutely smashed it. Love it when a bride does a speech, and this one was top-tier.
They had set up mini golf in the garden, but the weather had other ideas. That didn’t stop Caitlin and Andy from getting out there though, and because they’re two of the most competitive people I’ve met, it turned into a proper showdown. Andy just about won and celebrated by sprinting around the garden.
Horsburgh Castle, a flying veil and the Tweed Valley
For their couples photos we used the beer garden at the Park Hotel before heading to Horsburgh Castle, just outside Peebles. The wind was up, the mist had rolled in, and Caitlin’s veil was flying all over the place. Perfect conditions for a bit of dancing in the ruins, with the Tweed Valley stretching out behind them.
A ceilidh with the London lot giving it everything
The dance floor was absolute chaos, in the best way. A ceilidh packed with people who knew exactly what they were doing and a bunch of friends from London who had never ceilidh danced in their lives but gave it everything. That mix always makes for the best parties, and this was no exception.
Caitlin and Andy’s wedding wasn’t about over-the-top details or ticking boxes. It was about the people, and making sure everyone had the best time. From the flowers by The Flower Bee to the mini golf rivalry and one of the liveliest ceilidhs I’ve shot in a while, every part of the day just felt right.
Absolutely buzzing to have been part of it.
