East Lothian Wedding Photographer

For couples who don’t like having their photo taken.

East Lothian is a brilliant spot to get married, and it's right on my doorstep. Big beaches, that proper Scottish coast, walled gardens and barns, and weather that does whatever it fancies. I love it. I've photographed couples down on the sand at North Berwick after their ceremony at the Marine Hotel, out in the fields at Harvest Moon, along the coast at Dunglass, and on the windswept beaches around Gullane.

The way I work suits this part of the world perfectly. I blend in like a guest, keep things relaxed, and watch for the real moments rather than stopping the day to stage them. Almost everything I shoot is candid, so you'll barely notice me. The one bit of posing is twenty minutes of just the two of you after the ceremony, usually a wee wander down to the water, and even then I'll mostly leave you to it.

If the wind's up and the rain's coming in sideways, even better. Some of my favourite East Lothian photos have come out of properly wild weather. There's no pressure to do anything daft, but if you fancy it, I'm always game.

If you want a long list of formal, posed shots, I'm honestly not your guy. But if you want real photos of a brilliant, relaxed day, and a photographer who stays till the peak of the party rather than slipping off after the first dance, we'll get on just fine.

“It was like having one of our best friends take our wedding photos! Despite loads of time spent kissing and hugging in freezing temperatures, we have never felt more comfortable or more at ease. Lots of people say getting wedding photos taken is a drag but it was an absolute joy for us and one of our favourite parts of the day.”
