A wee promise from Adam

Wedding photography without the bullshit.

Hey, I’m Adam (he/him). I photograph your wedding as it actually happens. I want you to have the absolute best day, not spend it treating it like a photoshoot.

So I won’t drag you away for hours, and I won’t stop everything to stage it. You get on with having a brilliant time with your people, and I’ll catch the lot.

(No faff, no cheese, no two-hour photoshoots.)

A big summer wedding group, everyone cheering with their arms in the air

I come as a guest. Just one with two really good cameras.

I treat your wedding like I’m one of the guests. I’ll chat to your pals, chat to your nan, eat your canapés (three to five, max), and just happen to have two really good cameras catching the whole day as it happens.

When nobody feels like there’s a photographer hovering, everyone relaxes. That’s when the good stuff happens.

More about me

No faff, no posing.

This is candid, documentary wedding photography. Real moments for real people. Nothing super posed, nothing overly styled, no cheesy prompts.

Almost all of it happens without you noticing, while you’re busy laughing at the speeches, hugging your gran and losing it on the dance floor. That’s the stuff you’ll actually want to look back on.

“As someone who hates having their photograph taken, Adam made it so easy and captured some truly outstanding pictures. He even went along with our crazy ideas and never once was anything too much of an effort.”

Your day, start to finish

Together we’ll tell the full story of your day, from the nerves of getting ready right through to the peak of your evening.

    01

    Getting ready

Honestly? I’m not here for a hundred photos of your perfume bottle or every eyelash going on. The morning is about setting the scene: the calm, the nerves, the excitement, and the people you’re with. A whisky with your groomsmen, a glass of fizz with your mum. Who looks back in 50 years and thinks, “God, I loved having my eyelashes put on”?

  • Couple arm in arm facing their smiling guests at an outdoor ceremony on the lawn at Cormiston Farm

    02

    The ceremony

I blend into the background and catch your ceremony as it happens, all the good stuff from start to finish. No big tripods, no loads of gear, no standing in front of your mum. You’ll barely notice I’m there.

  • Black and white photo of a laughing wedding party piling in around the couple, bouquets in the air, at Wedderlie House

    Group photos

These are the ones that end up on your mum’s mantelpiece and your auntie’s wall, and they really matter. They can also be a total pain in the arse. So we keep them organised: a list, a couple of volunteers rounding everyone up, and no hours of faff. Done, then back to the canapés.

    Just the two of you

Most of my couples feel awkward in front of a camera, and don’t want to vanish for a two-hour photoshoot. Neither do I. Just a quick wee adventure. Twenty minutes, not two hours: a few nice corners of your venue, some gentle direction (look at each other, hold hands, have a walk). Nothing cheesy. Then straight back to the party.

    Let’s dance

Let’s be bold: most photographers leave after the first dance. Such a shame. Arms in the air, sweaty foreheads, eyes closed, tongues out, ties round heads. I’m right in the middle of it, dodging arms in the ceilidh and flinging myself out of the way of your Gay Gordons. Some of the best photos of the whole day.

From couples who hate having their photo taken

“Best wedding photographer ever! Having Adam at our wedding was like having an old friend there that was taking incredible photos. He is so passionate about what he does and doesn’t disappear after the meal, so we got some great dancing photos. We are not a ‘photoshoot’ type couple.”

“My husband and I are both quite awkward so were a bit worried about how we would be in front of the camera, but Adam made us feel so comfortable that taking the photos ended up being one of my favourite parts of the day.”

“Our wedding ceremony was at St Margaret’s Chapel, Edinburgh Castle, just the two of us. Although we don’t like having our photo taken we knew we really needed some photographs. Adam really made us feel so comfortable and at ease. The photos are absolutely beautiful and so natural, just what we wanted.”

FAQs

Is it just you, or a team?

Just me. I’m a bit of a lone ranger and I love it that way. It means I get to know you properly, and on the day you’ll have a familiar face rather than a stranger with a camera. That’s usually when the most relaxed, natural photos happen.

Do you travel?

Always. I live in the Scottish Borders, just outside Edinburgh, and work all over Scotland and the UK. I love a destination wedding abroad too. All travel is included in your quote, so there are no surprise costs to worry about.

What do you actually photograph?

The full story of your day, from the nerves and excitement of getting ready, right through to the peak of the dance floor chaos. Almost everything I shoot is candid and spontaneous, so you’ll barely know I’m there.

What’s your photography style?

Relaxed and documentary. I blend in like a guest and catch the real moments as they happen, so almost everything is candid. The only directing I do is a short wander with the two of you after the ceremony, about twenty minutes, and even then I mostly leave you to it. No stiff posing, nothing cheesy, nothing awkward.

How much does it cost?

It depends what your day needs, and I’d rather talk than send a list. No packages, no price list: you shouldn’t pay for bits of the day you’re not fussed about. Tell me about your day, we’ll have a wee chat, and I’ll give you one number.

What kinds of weddings do you shoot?

All of them. Big traditional venue weddings, small celebrations, Edinburgh City Chambers micro weddings, and wild, remote elopements. If it’s your kind of day, it’s my kind of day.

Do you need feeding on the day?

Nope, I’m easy. I’ll bring my own or grab something nearby. One less thing for you to arrange.

We’re not really into traditions. Is that a problem?

Not even slightly. Some of my favourite weddings have thrown half the rulebook out the window. We’ll build the day around what the two of you actually care about, and quietly skip the bits you don’t. No speeches if you hate the idea. No cake cutting if you can’t be bothered. Your day, your call.

Do you only do big weddings?

Nope. Twenty guests or two hundred, a castle or your mum’s back garden, I’m here for all of it. The size doesn’t change how I work. I’m still just there blending in and catching the real moments.

How do we book?

Send me a message with your date and a little about the two of you. If I’m free we’ll have a proper chat, and I’ll put together one simple, bespoke quote. No confusing tiers.
