Hannah and Tom's summer wedding at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh

Hannah and Tom got married in John Muir Grove at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, an outdoor wedding venue right in the heart of the city, surrounded by towering redwoods. It feels like a little pocket of California tucked away in Edinburgh. They got one of those rare, golden Scottish summer days, a humanist ceremony under the trees, champagne on the lawns and a ceilidh that was packed from the first dance.

Hannah and Tom got lucky with one of those rare Scottish summer days where the sun beats down and everything feels warm and alive. Their humanist ceremony took place beneath the trees, with the light filtering through the branches.

Afterwards, guests spilled out onto the Botanic Garden’s manicured lawns, sipping champagne, enjoying canapés and soaking up the sunshine.

In the middle of Edinburgh and you’d never know

Being able to celebrate in the middle of Edinburgh but feel completely removed from the city is what makes this venue so special. You are minutes from the busy streets, yet all you can hear is the rustling of trees and the laughter of your guests.

Golden hour in the Botanic Gardens

As the sun started to set, we took a wander through the Botanic Gardens for some couple photos, Hannah and Tom in that golden light, the two of them wrapped up in each other, dancing, walking, and just soaking in the day.

The gardens are a photographer’s dream, with endless hidden spots, dramatic trees and soft, glowing light at the end of the day.

A ceilidh and a second dress

Then it was time for the evening, which kicked off with a ceilidh. The dance floor was packed from the start, with guests throwing themselves into the traditional Scottish dancing with wild enthusiasm.

Halfway through the night, Hannah revealed a second outfit, swapping her wedding dress for a short party dress, ready to dance the night away.

A rare sunny day in Edinburgh, spent under the trees. Hard to beat.
