Rebecca and Michael's misty Lake District wedding at Paddock Barn

Rebecca and Michael got married at Paddock Barn, a rustic barn wedding venue in the Lake District, Cumbria, on a misty, windy day with the cloud sitting low on the hills. They got ready at The Punch Bowl Inn, had their ceremony in front of the barn’s fireplace, and finished with a sparkler tunnel and a dance floor that let me get properly creative.
Getting ready at The Punch Bowl Inn
By the time I arrived at The Punch Bowl Inn, where Rebecca and Michael were getting ready, the mood was relaxed and fun. Rebecca’s creative touches were everywhere, from the flowers to her own bouquet.
A ceremony by the fire at Paddock Barn
Paddock Barn is all rustic charm, and with the fireplace crackling the ceremony felt less like a wedding and more like everyone gathered round a family hearth.
Confetti, canapés and a wander into the hills
After the ceremony everyone headed outside for group photos, canapés and drinks, and an epic confetti throw.
Later, Rebecca and Michael sneaked away from the crowd for a wander round the grounds, with the Lake District hills rolling off behind them and the mist still hanging about. Not a bad backdrop.
A sparkler tunnel and blurry photos on the dance floor
Once it was dark we set up a sparkler tunnel outside the barn. Then the first dance, and a dance floor full of energy and laughter.
My highlight of the whole day was getting creative with some blurry, drag-shutter photos on that dance floor. A laid-back day like this one gives me room to experiment, and the photos are better for it.
Rebecca and Michael, thanks for having me down in the Lakes.

In their words
“Adam captured the atmosphere of the day perfectly, from the moody low clouds and misty hills to the unbridled joy of the evening dances. He put everyone at their ease, including our 3-year-old godson and 1-year-old daughter (which was no mean feat!). He spent the years building up to the wedding getting to know us as a couple and our interests, which is why he took us for a little hike on the day! We felt safe in his hands.”
