Mira and David's autumn wedding at Raemoir House, Banchory

Mira & David at Raemoir House, Banchory
Mira & David · Raemoir House, Banchory

Mira and David got married at Raemoir House, a country house venue near Banchory on Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire, on a cool, calm, overcast day in late October with the trees round the house glowing orange and red. They wanted something relaxed, a little alternative and full of autumn colour, and that’s exactly what they got.

Why I travelled to Aberdeenshire for this one

I’m a Scottish Borders and Edinburgh-based wedding photographer, but I’ll travel anywhere in Scotland for the right wedding. When Mira and David got in touch about an October wedding at Raemoir House, I knew it was going to be a good one.

Autumn colour and overcast light at Raemoir House

Raemoir House is surrounded by trees, and in late October every one of them was in some shade of orange or red. The weather was cool, calm and overcast, which is perfect for photos and for getting through the day without any stress.

A first look down a tree-lined track

Mira is from Denmark and David is Scottish, and the day was a mix of both. They got ready separately, then had a first look down a quiet tree-lined track. David was waiting under the autumn leaves when Mira walked up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder. They had a quiet moment together, then walked back to their ceremony side by side.

An easy-going day with their closest people

The rest of the day at Raemoir was easy-going, full of laughs and surrounded by their closest people. The kind of day where everything just flowed.

Weddings like this are why I love what I do.
