Pascale and Jonathan's Small Wedding at Edinburgh City Chambers

Pascale & Jonathan at Edinburgh City Chambers
Pascale & Jonathan · Edinburgh City Chambers

Pascale and Jonathan got married at Edinburgh City Chambers, the council building on the Royal Mile in the middle of Edinburgh’s Old Town, with just a few close friends and family in the room. Low-key, no fuss, and then the whole of the Old Town on the doorstep for the afternoon.

A small ceremony at Edinburgh City Chambers

A handful of people, a short ceremony, and straight out of the door on to the Mile. That’s the thing about the City Chambers: there’s no transfer, no coach, no waiting around. You’re married and you’re in the Old Town.

No cheesy poses: a wander through the Old Town closes

After the ceremony, Pascale and Jonathan wanted to explore the Old Town. No cheesy poses or awkward moments, just the two of them, hand in hand, wandering through the closes and hidden twitchles that wind between the centuries-old buildings.

That suits me fine. I’d much rather follow a couple through a close while they’re laughing at something than line them up against a wall. The photos from those quiet corners are them, not a pose.

St Giles’ Cathedral and a confetti throw on the Royal Mile

We took a moment outside St Giles’ Cathedral for a few relaxed portraits, the grand architecture behind them and the two of them completely calm in front of it.

Then their guests joined them for a confetti throw on the Royal Mile, with the whole bustle of the city going on around them.

Relaxed and natural in Edinburgh

They didn’t want anything over the top. No forced poses, no interruptions, just the two of them exploring the city together.
