Sidney and Caleb's small castle wedding at Dundas Castle, Edinburgh

Sidney & Caleb at Dundas Castle
Sidney & Caleb · Dundas Castle

Sidney and Caleb came all the way from Utah to get married at Dundas Castle, a historic castle wedding venue at South Queensferry, just outside Edinburgh, with only their closest family and friends there. Black tie, a ceremony in the Auld Keep led by a family member, and a day that was completely relaxed and exactly what they’d hoped for.

Snooker and whisky in the billiards room

The morning kicked off with chilled prep: Sidney and her bridesmaids in one of the suites upstairs, and Caleb with his groomsmen in the billiards room playing snooker and sipping whisky. The guys looked seriously sharp in black tie, giving the whole thing a proper cinematic feel.

A short ceremony in the Auld Keep

Their ceremony was in the Auld Keep and led by a family member. It was short and packed with tears. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room, and I’m pretty sure even I had something in my eye behind the camera.

The tower shot, the bridges, and vodka in the grounds

After the ceremony, we made our way up to the roof for that classic Dundas Castle tower shot with the flags flying and the bridges in the background. Then we wandered the grounds for some relaxed, fun portraits. Just the two of them being themselves, drinking vodka and soaking it all in.

We grabbed a few creative group photos in the library, which has the dark wood and fireplace vibes for something a little different. And after some brilliant speeches in the Pavilion, I left them to enjoy the rest of their night.

Why Dundas Castle is one of my favourite venues to photograph

Dundas Castle is genuinely one of my favourite venues to photograph. The staff are amazing, it’s beautifully run and every time I go back I find somewhere new to shoot. This time it was the working armoury and the moody drawing room with Game of Thrones energy and gorgeous natural light.

If you’re planning a wedding in Scotland and want something historic and completely your own, Dundas Castle is the one.

And Sidney and Caleb? Two absolute legends, surrounded by the best kind of people. A total joy to be part of their day.
